The 28th IEEE Conference on Massive Data Storage will dedicate a full week to computer storage technology. The symposium will include a day of tutorials, two days of invited papers, and two days of peer-reviewed, research papers.

The MSST research track and SNAPI, the IEEE International Workshop on Storage Network Architecture and Parallel I/Os will combine to become the 28th IEEE MSST/SNAPI conference. MSST/SNAPI 2012 will highlight the latest research in the architecture, design, implementation, and evaluation of local and networked storage and parallel I/O systems.

MSST Tutorials

April 16th (Monday)
Five important distributed file systems will be discussed: Lustre, GPFS, OrangeFS, Ceph, and HDFS. Two are old school and three are upstarts. They have different fundamentals and different intended uses. Top experts will guide you in what makes each of these technologies work. Whether you are an implementer, a decision maker, or both, this day will be an investment in your career.

MSST Symposium

April 17th—18th (Tuesday—Wednesday)
Our keynote speaker is Cray President and CEO, Peter Ungaro, who will address the synergy between massive computing and massive storage. Featured speaker Dr. Robert E. Fontana, IEEE Fellow and author of over 100 patents in magnetic storage, will provide an insider's view of the future of disk, tape, and solid-state memory technology. Other talks will address massive archives, cloud storage, and content management. Prominent consultant and blogger Henry Newman will challenge us on limits to the scalability of our current storage paradigms.
